TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
Music is a language capable of saying and expressing things that words cannot. It encompasses all people across all cultures. The majority of people from the youngest infant to the most elderly have the ability to receive the message music delivers. My goal is to teach others to more fluently speak that language, to be able to express themselves through sound.
My goal is to lay a strong foundation in music fundamentals such as rhythm, notes, dynamics and musicality. I focus on a more classical music education while also regularly including styles specifically aimed towards the student’s personal preference. Paying attention to each individual student’s learning style and goals is important to me and I tailor my lessons as such.
MY BACKGROUND:
I graduated from Cincinnati Bible College (Cincinnati Christian University) in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in music, specifically piano performance. I began teaching piano lessons in 2000 in addition to accompanying church services and solo instrumentalists and performing for weddings. My priorities eventually shifted as my family grew and being a homemaker has been my main purpose. Now that my children are older and more independent, I am looking forward to again sharing the gift of music with others.
WHEN I’M NOT TEACHING:
I have been blessed with an amazing husband and three adventurous sons. I love road trips and have been in all lower 48 states with my family. I am also a photographer and while I enjoy photographing beautiful faces for others, my favorite thing to capture on camera is my family in our wilderness escapes. My other hobbies include chickens, sourdough, audiobooks and natural living.
